Federation of International Bandy, FIB, decided on 24th of August, 2009
not to hold World Bandy Championship in 2010 on the conditions
presented on 20th of August by Swedish Bandy Federation, SBF, that
expected participation of only Group A teams.
FIB has filed a claim that both groups A and B must participate in the
Championship, according to the decision of the Congress, and FIB has
made extraordinary efforts towards SBF, trying until the last moment to
organize a World Championship with a total of 15 teams.
Swedish Bandy Federation, however, rejected this proposal on 25th of
August, why the FIB´s earlier decision not to implement the 2010 World
Championship remains.
With less than six months remaining before the World Championship would
be played, due to the long time taken by Swedish Bandy Federation to
present its proposal, the Federation of International Bandy has no
possibility of finding alternative solutions for a World Championship.
FIB has however the ambition to arrange an international tournament during the same
time.
